Tokorono, Nikko townOn our lists
The Fairfield in Tokorono is one of Marriott’s roadside hotels in rural Japan: a modern, room-only building on the edge of Nikko town, north-east of the stations, with free parking and rooms with a king bed or two singles. There is a shared lounge with a kitchen corner and fridge.
It is not a place to spend the evening: there are no baths or dinner. It is a clean, reliable bed at a fair price for travellers with a car who plan to eat in town and spend the days at the shrines and the lakes. Guest scores on Expedia are very high.
Getting around
In Tokorono, north-east of the stations; you need a car or a taxi.
